Cognitive rehabilitation is a treatment involving skill-based tasks and strategies to improve overall cognitive functioning (i.e. thinking, memory, attention, problem solving). Due to the neuroplasticity of the brain, overall cognitive functioning can be improved by targeting specific obstacles to performance.
Cognitive Rehabilitation Treatment typically involves:
- Fostering adaptation following an acquired or traumatic brain injury
- Providing strategies, coaching, and support to improve functioning in the real world
- Helping individuals self-manage disability and adaptive challenges
- If appropriate, we will work collaboratively with your other care providers in the community. Other providers may include Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselors, and Medical Doctors (MD) to provide a comprehensive care plan that is patient driven.
