About Dr. Rucker

Dr. Amaya A. Rucker is a clinical psychologist whose integrative and collaborative approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship to effect change. She specializes in working with the ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety and Depressive Disorders, and the impact of chronic illnesses on mental health. Dr. Rucker’s treatment approach is based upon the individual needs and specific goals for treatment.

Dr. Rucker has a wide range of experience. She’s worked with individuals of all ages in a variety of settings, including research facilities, outpatient behavioral health centers, inpatient behavioral health hospitals, elementary, middle, and high schools, universities, assisted living, long term care, and rehab and skilled nursing facilities. She has worked with various populations, including active duty and retired military service members, police officers, public servants, college students, faculty and staff, juvenile offenders, the unhoused, and children and youth with chronic behavioral disorders. Dr. Rucker is active in program development, supervision and consultation. She has served as clinical supervisor to clinicians at all levels of training.

Dr. Amaya Rucker earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. She obtained a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Regent University and a master’s degree in counseling from Hampton University, in Hampton Virginia and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Dr. Rucker completed her postdoctoral training at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA.

Dr. Amaya Rucker is licensed by the Virginia Board of Psychology and the Florida Board of Psychology.
