Dr. Bindal Mehmel is a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist at the Rowan Center for Behavioral Medicine. She specializes in concussion and mild traumatic brain injury, following completion of a two-year fellowship in sports concussion at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Sports Medicine Concussion Program. She has also worked with athletes and understands the unique psychological factors they may experience. In addition, she has several years of experience in health and rehabilitation psychology. Her work incorporates principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her approach is holistic, collaborative, and practical, supporting individuals as they navigate changes in functioning, recovery from injury, and adjustment to life transitions. She encourages patients to engage in meaningful activities, bolster their self-confidence, and better manage stress.

Dr. Mehmel graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her Master’s of Science in Psychology and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. She completed her clinical internship, neuropsychology track, at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Bay Pines, Florida. Dr. Mehmel completed her post-doctoral neuropsychology fellowship training in sports concussion at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Sports Medicine Concussion Program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
